Odisha beat Maharashtra by 22 runs in their opening Elite Group-A match of the Women’s Inter-State T-20 Tournament at Hyderabad today. Odisha captain Madhusmita Behera led from the front with a 31-ball 35, which included four boundaries and one six.
Electing to bat, Odisha got off to a good start with Madhusmita and Madhuri Meheta putting together 54 runs for the opening wicket. But fall of wickets in regular intervals thereafter resulted in Odisha getting all out for 97. Running between the wickets continued to be a problem for Odisha as four batsmen were run out.
In reply, Maharashtra folded up for 75. S Mandhana was their top scorer with 37 runs. Off-spinner Rasanara Parbin was Odisha’s most successful bowler, bagging two wickets for 20 runs.
